Loretta Schickner is the Deputy Director of the Data and Systems Group (DSG) within the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS). She has been working in the information technology (IT) industry for over 32 years supporting multi-million dollar, high-volume data processing initiatives in numerous business and technological disciplines, most recently in the healthcare industry. Loretta has served in various management and director roles for large-scale systems development efforts, business process re-engineering initiatives, and maintenance projects.
For the last seven years she served as the Director of the Division of Information Systems (DIS) within DSG. Loretta led the re-engineering of systems and business processes for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) using relevant management and software delivery models such as DevOps, modern agile software development, and digital transformation. She was key in delivering 50 states, the District of Columbia (DC), Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands in submitting Transformed-Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS) data monthly to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Loretta’s experience, combined with her knowledge of budgeting and procurement, supports DSG delivery of large scale digital services products taking Medicaid and CHIP to the next level of IT services. For fun, Loretta enjoys gardening, bicycling, golf, and hanging out at the beach, where she is often seen chasing a young labradoodle.
