The Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) is committed to supporting state efforts to identify and enroll eligible people in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and help people live longer, healthier lives. This section provides materials and messages that states may use and adapt to support outreach activities.
Supporting Enrollment Efforts
Throughout the nation, efforts to enroll eligible individuals in health insurance are moving forward. Millions are eligible for Medicaid and CHIP – in many states, more people than ever before – and still need to be connected to the vital health benefits these programs provide. The fact sheets available in this section are intended to help consumers understand basic information about Medicaid and CHIP, including who’s eligible, program benefits, and how to apply. Visit the Supporting Enrollment Efforts page for additional information.
Medicaid and CHIP Renewals
States usually complete eligibility renewals each year to find out if people enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP still qualify for coverage. If someone is no longer eligible for Medicaid or CHIP, they may be eligible for another health insurance option, such as Marketplace health coverage on HealthCare.gov, Medicare, or employer-sponsored insurance coverage. Visit the Medicaid and CHIP Renewals Outreach and Educational Resources page for materials and resources to help people with Medicaid or CHIP renew their health coverage or find other health care options.
Helping Connect Enrollees to Care
For many individuals and families enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP, having health insurance and an ongoing relationship with a health care provider may be new experiences. States can use or adapt the messages and resources in this section to help new enrollees establish a regular source of health care and promote appropriate preventive health care services. Visit the Helping Connect Enrollees to Care page for additional information.
Living Well - Promoting Preventive Services
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering a set of engaging materials for state Medicaid Agencies and other partners to help Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries understand and access preventive services available to them. Living Well is a set of outreach materials that connects preventive care in the clinical setting with everyday life. The Living Well toolkit features many customizable materials, including printable posters, fact sheets, social media posts, and strategies for getting the word out about Medicaid coverage of preventive services. Visit the Living Well page to download the materials.
