Janet Freeze joined CMS in 2002 and has served as the Deputy Director of the Financial Management Group since August 2016. Prior to her current position, Ms. Freeze directed FMG’s Division of Reimbursement and State Financing where her work involved the development, analysis and implementation of national payment and financing policies governing Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Previous CMS experience includes time as Technical Director of the Medicaid Data Team where her work focused on analyzing Medicaid claims and related data to provide senior leaders and other stakeholders with information necessary to develop data-driven solutions to improve the Medicaid program.
Prior to joining CMS, Ms. Freeze worked with the Maryland Medicaid program where her responsibilities focused on Medicaid data and claims systems, program integrity, managed care quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Janet received a law degree, with concentrations in insurance and business law, from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She is admitted to the Maryland bar.
