Recruiting, Selecting, and Retaining Direct Service Workers to Provide Self-directed Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) is a publicly available, free, online interactive training series designed to provide guidance and useful information. The training series is for individuals who self-direct, or wish to self-direct, their HCBS; their family members; and others who are authorized to provide support, where appropriate. The series consists of six, self-guided modules, each covering a different aspect of direct service worker recruitment, training, and retention.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed this training for individuals who self-direct their services, their family members, and representatives to use free of charge.
