Monica Harris

Monica serves as the Acting Deputy Director of the Childrens and Adult Health Programs Group (CAHPG). Immediately prior to his role Monica worked in the Office of the Center Director as a Senior Advisor.

Monica has held a variety of leadership positions throughout her 25+ year career with CMS. Prior to (re)joining CMCS in 2018, Monica worked in CMS agency operations where she served as a Group Director directing the CMS Labor and Employee Relations program, overseeing the development and maintenance of the Agency’s IT suite supporting administrative/performance reporting for CMS employees, and managing the office’s human resources, acquisition planning, and budget.

Before moving to agency operations, Monica was the Director of the Division of Audit and Accountability in CPI’s Medicaid Integrity Group, where she oversaw the development of regulatory and sub-regulatory guidance to implement legislation, including provisions in the Affordable Care Act. Monica oversaw the Medicaid National Audit Program’s Audit resolution process and directed the development of select CMS Medicaid Program Integrity publications.
Prior to working in CPI Monica served for twelve years in the predecessor office to CMCS, where her portfolio included Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, and outreach and the Children’s Health Insurance program.

In her free time Monica enjoys baking and hanging out with her husband and now-grown children.
