Section 1135 Waiver Flexibilities - Maryland Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Third Request)

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) granted an initial approval to the State of Maryland for multiple section 1135 flexibilities on March 26, 2020 and May 6, 2020.  Your follow-up communication to CMS on July 30, 2020, detailed a number of additional federal requirements that also pose issues or challenges for the health care delivery system in Maryland and requested a waiver or modification of those additional requirements.

Section 1135 Waiver Flexibilities - Missouri Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Third & Fourth Request)

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) granted an initial approval to the State of Missouri for multiple section 1135 flexibilities on March 25, 2020. Your follow-up communications to CMS on May 1, 2020 and July 6, 2020 detailed a number of additional federal requirements that also pose issues or challenges for the health care delivery system in Missouri and requested a waiver or modification of those additional requirements.

CMS is approving this time-limited state plan amendment to respond to the COVID-19 national emergency. The purpose of this amendment is to change the end date of some of the provisions approved in Arkansas' previously approved disaster relief state plan amendment (SPA 20-0015). It changes the end date of the Well Check services and the Day Habilitation Enhanced Payments to the end date of the national public health emergency. The other provisions of the previously approved disaster relief SPA are unchanged.

CMS is approving this time-limited state plan amendment to respond to the COVID-19 national emergency. The purpose of this amendment is to provide coverage for lab or x-ray services intended to diagnose or detect antibodies for COVID-19; increase certain payment rates; and extend resident absences from nursing facilities.
